How do you make a Gnome Love Jar?
I found a pink pint-size mason jar, but a clear jar works just as well. If you want a tinted jar, you can tint one yourself using an at-home tutorial. The gnome I used was a 5–6 inch wreath pick; I removed the pick stem so the figure could stand inside the jar.
If you don’t have a gnome, a small teddy bear or Valentine stuffed animal works perfectly instead.
Steps:
- Print the Sweet Nothings sheet and cut the phrases into strips.
- Pick a short phrase for the gnome to hold and set that strip aside. Roll the remaining phrases into small scrolls and set them aside.
- Break a toothpick in half. Add a small glue dot to the top of each half.
- Attach one end of the chosen phrase strip to the top of one half-toothpick and roll the paper around the glue dot. Repeat on the other side so the phrase becomes a tiny banner between the two toothpick halves. Add small glue dots as needed to keep the paper secure.
- Place a glue dot or two on the back of the gnome’s hands and set the little banner into its grip.
- Add 2–3 glue dots to the bottom of the gnome to anchor it in the jar.
- Carefully lower the gnome into the mason jar and press it to the bottom so it stands. Position it toward the back of the jar so the sign is fully visible and the arms don’t get caught on the glass. Use a chopstick or pencil to nudge the arms or banner into the best position.
- Drop the rolled up phrases into the jar in front of the gnome’s feet for your recipient to pull out and read.
- Decorate the lid: place any small felt hearts or ornaments so they hang inside the lid if desired, and use glue dots to attach pompom ribbon trim around the lid edge.
- Optional: attach a small submersible flickering tea light to the inside of the lid with hot glue or glue dots so the jar gently illuminates when closed. Make sure the light’s batteries are accessible for future replacement.
- Screw the lid on and present your Gnome Love Jar.

Tips and variations
– If you can’t find pompom trim, use baker’s twine, ribbon, or a strip of felt around the lid.
– Swap the gnome for any small figurine that fits the jar for a different theme.
– For a cozy glow, use a small battery-powered fairy light instead of a tea light.

Did you know? ✨ I write swoony romances with big feelings and red-lipstick energy.
My newest book, The First Sin, is a dark, slow-burn descent you won’t escape unmarked. It asks one dangerous question: What if Lucifer didn’t fall for pride or ambition? What if he fell for love?

The Enchanted Hearts Collection are standalone romances that break your heart and put it back together with a happily ever after.
