Adorable CD Chick That Will Melt Your Heart

Make the most adorable Easter chick using materials you already have at home.

This CD chick craft is one of the sweetest Easter projects we’ve made. Look at that round, fluffy yellow face and those big eyes—so charming. It’s a simple, satisfying craft that turned out even cuter than we expected.

CD Chicks for preschoolers to make

The project is easy enough for preschoolers, and a curious toddler can handle many of the steps with a little help.

To make our CD chick, you’ll need:

supplies for cd chicks

  • an old, scratched CD
  • tissue paper cut into 2-inch squares
  • yellow acrylic craft paint
  • googly eyes
  • craft feathers
  • orange paper for the beak
  • white glue
  • a paintbrush
  • string or fishing line for hanging (optional)

Start by painting the CD yellow. If you want to speed drying, a hairdryer on low works well.

Apply a second coat for even coverage. Once the paint is dry, spread a thin layer of white glue over the painted side of the CD.

Crumple the tissue paper squares and press them onto the glued surface to create a fluffy, textured body.

Glue on googly eyes, add an orange paper beak, and tuck a few feathers in for wings or tail feathers. The result is irresistibly cute.

If you want to hang the chick as an ornament, thread a small length of fishing line through the CD’s center hole and tie it securely.
