Greek Yogurt Tzatziki Sauce with Fresh Dill
Sometimes a single ingredient can elevate a dish, and for this tzatziki that ingredient is fresh dill.
As a child I remember a neighbor’s enormous dill bush, always full of ladybugs in summer. Back then dill seemed odd to me, but over the years I’ve come to love its bright, herbaceous flavor.
I use chopped dill tossed into salads, as a finishing herb for Mediterranean dishes, and most of all in tzatziki, where it pairs perfectly with cool Greek yogurt, lemon, and garlic.
Tzatziki has deep roots in Mediterranean and Ottoman culinary traditions and remains a classic condiment today.

Raw Garlic (optional, but highly recommended)
Raw garlic is intense and pungent, but when used sparingly in this sauce it adds a lively bite and potentially immune-boosting qualities. The garlic is noticeable but not overpowering when combined with the cool yogurt and lemon.
This tzatziki is incredibly versatile: it’s a great dip for vegetables and chips, a creamy companion for roasted or grilled proteins, a cooling contrast for spicy dishes, and a perfect match with roasted potatoes or warm flatbreads.
I find myself making it often because it keeps well and brightens so many meals.
