One evening after dinner I decided to use the fruit I had on hand—pineapple, mango and banana—to make a smoothie. I asked the Lovefoodies Facebook group for ideas and combined their suggestions into this easy, tasty recipe. It takes just a few minutes to prepare.

Using strawberry yogurt gives the smoothie extra creaminess and body, but you can use plain yogurt or another flavored yogurt you prefer. If your fruit is ripe, the drink will be naturally sweet; add a little honey if you prefer it sweeter, tasting and adjusting to suit your preference.

This smoothie has a bright tropical flavor and is wonderfully refreshing. Below is the recipe contributed by the Lovefoodies Facebook group.

Ingredients

5 pineapple rings
2 mangoes, peeled and chopped
1 banana
1 glass (about 200–250 ml) strawberry yogurt
1 tray of ice cubes (adjust amount for desired thickness)

Instructions

1. Add the pineapple, mango and banana to a blender. Use the pulse setting to break up the fruit, then blend until smooth.

2. Pour in the strawberry yogurt and blend briefly until fully combined and creamy.

3. Add the ice cubes and pulse until the texture is icy and thick but still drinkable. Adjust ice or yogurt to reach your preferred consistency.

4. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. Enjoy!

  • 5 pineapple rings
