Ingredients

  • 2 cups steaming short-medium grain rice
  • 3 sheets seaweed
  • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil, plus more for coating the glove
  • sesame seedsfor garnish

Instructions

  • Cut the seaweed sheets into small pieces with scissors or pulse them in a food processor until coarsely shredded.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the warm rice, shredded seaweed, soy sauce, and sesame oil until evenly mixed.
  • Put on a plastic glove and rub a little oil on it so the rice won’t stick. While the rice is still warm, scoop about 2 tablespoons into your palm, press gently to help it hold together, and shape into a ball.
  • Repeat until all the rice is used. Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

You can substitute seasoned roasted seaweed or seaweed flakes if you prefer, which will add extra flavor without changing the method.
